Hi staying alive, I have nothing but empathy for the situation that you are in at the moment. I know that life can be tough with a disablity and very little income. Before I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and several other ilnesses as a result, I worked full-time, did yoga, kick boxing and Tai-chi and had many an outing with my little man. Now I'm trying to come to terms with the person I am, as opposed to the person I used to be, kind of a mourning period, even though it's now been almost 3 years.
I'm not sure what the situation in the US is like in regards to disability but the government over here in Britain, is doing their hardest to get rid of any disability allowances. In fact I've just won an appeal after a medical ruling was found to be full of lies.
I guess I'm telling you all this in the hope that you know that you are not alone. The thing that keeps me sane at the moment is my blog, though I tend not to write about my illness.
I think that in time, your blog may prove very useful to others in a similar situation.
